“GOD IS ENOUGH FOR ME”
After her long-term mission in Indonesia, Sister Cristee “Pat” Marcelino was looking for another opportunity to continue going on missions with the Lord’s guidance. She was one of the pioneering missionaries of International Team Philippines. She spent almost nine years in Indonesia but there came a time when she had to return to the Philippines.
While she was in the Philippines, she was seeking the Lord’s next plan in her life. IT’s Executive Director, Pastor Gani Sison spoke about the need for missionaries in Cambodia. As Sister Pat listened to Pastor Gani’s challenge to all the IT missionaries to be sent to Cambodia, she felt the burden of going there. She signed up to go to Cambodia, but she lacked the resources. When she returned to the Philippines, she had no work and was fully dependent on God. Sister Pat prayed earnestly to the Lord to let her know of her next step and to provide for her. To her surprise the former supporter of their team when they were in Indonesia, sent some money for them despite not being in the mission field anymore. Funds have been accumulated and Sister Pat was able to buy her ticket to Cambodia.
When she arrived in Cambodia, she got her own place to stay, and it was amazing that every month she had the money to pay for her rent. She didn’t have a job, but she would receive US dollars being sent to her and she was not curious at all where it came from, for she knows that her Father in Heaven is the one sustaining her while she was in Cambodia. She was just so grateful to God that He is always by her side and helps her.
Sis Pat was volunteering in villages and teaching the locals about English and building relationships with them which she’s been doing for a year. She also assists Sister Fhem, an IT missionary, who is teaching Cambodian students at the mission house she's in charge of.
Sister Pat would recall the times that despite not having a lot, she would still have some money and would share her blessings with the other missionaries. All she knows, God is more than enough for her, so she doesn’t worry about her future.
Because we are God’s children, we can be confident that He will give us wisdom. Because He gives us wisdom, we can be sure that we will have a future and hope. When we have the wisdom of God, we don’t need to fear the future. Rather, we can trust God with our lives for He knows all things.
What a privilege it is to be called the children of the God who knows all things, who owns all things, and who is omnipotent! Great are you, Lord, mighty in power!
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
