“ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE WITH GOD” (Part 1)
Pastor Tony and Sis Diosy Mendoza are IT Trainers and missionaries who are currently staying in Hong Kong. Before their journey of faith had started, they were already content doing their ministry in the Philippines. However, God had called them to go, and they received confirmation from Genesis 12: 1 – “Leave your country, your people, and your father's household and go to the land I will show you. I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.” Upon hearing the Lord’s confirmation, they continued to pray and seek God’s guidance. As their first step, they planned to become tentmakers.
Pastor Tony, an English teacher, sent out applications to different countries that were looking for a teacher. Through job agencies, he sent out his application and he was hired by Saudi Aramco in Saudi Arabia. Also, he didn’t have to pay any placement fees and his medical exam to the manpower agency. On top of that, when his contract was given to him, they found out that he could bring his family with him because he was considered at a higher level of employment. It was unexpected for they never anticipated that teachers are highly regarded in Saudi Arabia. It was the confirmation they were seeking, and it was indeed God’s favor that all their prayers were answered! Everything they prayed for came true! Praise the Lord!
After all the preparation, Pastor Tony and his family flew to Saudi Arabia and he started working in Saudi Aramco’s Industrial Training Center (ITC). While working in the ITC, they began ministering and conducting Bible studies and they saw that the Lord was with them as they led the Bible study group there. They were grateful to God for empowering them to lead people to His feet and they continued to serve there until God’s next instruction to them.
We all have our heart’s desires, but somehow, we tend to dismiss them because we think it’s impossible to happen, however they’re not impossible with God. As a tentmaker in Saudi Arabia, Pastor Tony had a desire to study abroad to get his master’s degree. As Pastor Tony delighted himself with God, He granted him the desire of his heart. It was an ordinary day at work when a newspaper ad announced that the Australian government was offering postgraduate AusAID scholarships.
As soon as Pastor Tony learned about the scholarship, he was ecstatic, and he rushed to the Australian Embassy in Makati, Philippines to submit all the requirements needed. Once again, the Lord was with him. After he passed IELTS, he was included in the shortlist of 100 applicants from a total of 3,000 plus applicants! The scholarship cost 1 million pesos and he didn’t have to pay anything. His flight on Qantas was free, and AusAID provided him with a non-family monthly allowance, and he became a full-time student at the University of Sydney for a year and a half. Another answered prayer was that his family would be able to join him in Sydney, Australia. When his wife and son joined him, AusAID gave him a higher monthly family allowance! God’s provision for their airfare came from Pastor Tony’s summer work as a Transport Information Person for NBC of America at the Sydney Olympics and by becoming the English tutor of his Thai classmate's brother for a limited period. Hallelujah! The Lord poured out more blessings upon Pastor Tony by providing him with a part-time English teacher position even if he was still a full-time university student. The floodgates of heaven were pouring out and the blessings didn’t end there!
While they were in Australia, Sister Diosy got a job. She was favored by the Lord and was trusted by the company to manage the accounting department. She admitted she wasn’t qualified and other Australians also applied for the managerial position but in the end, she was chosen. Sister Diosy saw that her promotion was from the Lord and she praised the Lord greatly for everything she experienced! Another blessing was while Pastor Tony was studying, he was also offered to teach at Mount Druitt Christian Academy and their son was also able to study there! They were tremendously blessed by the Lord and they couldn’t ask for more.
During their stay in Australia, they were active in the ministry and helped their Pakistani pastor who was used by the Lord to lead the multicultural church they attended. Pastor Tony and Sis Diosy were used by God in the prayer and discipleship ministry and at times Pastor Tony would get to preach. They were blessed by the Lord with tangible things and spiritual blessings as they honor God first in their hearts and in everything they do.
The story doesn’t end here. God continues to use and bless them to be a blessing to others. In their next journey of faith, we would see how they followed the Lord with all their hearts. They were also willing to leave the security and comfort they had in Australia. All these things can happen as you obey the Lord, for we know that all things are possible with God. So, continue to pursue God and you will be surprised where He would lead you.
